Why parents choose Clay & Play

In two days at Clay & Play, parents and children learn, laugh, and slow down together

Clay cow

Learn clay sculpting

Explore how to roll, press, and bring animals to life in clay. From dogs to deer, you’ll learn techniques to sculpt with your hands, instead of books or screens, and feel the excitement of creating something that looks alive.

Enjoy quality family time

When was the last time you sat face-to-face with your family, fully present? At Clay & Play, you’ll learn sculpting, laugh at funny shapes that appear, cheer each other on, and build moments your child will carry for life.

Feel the calm of the earth in your hands

Clay is more than an art material; it’s a piece of earth. The touch of it slows you down, grounds your thoughts, and gives a rare sense of calm. In shaping clay together, you’ll discover a soothing rhythm that reconnects you to nature and each other.

Your weekend at Clay & Play

Over two days, you’ll journey from playful clay discovery to sculpting lifelike animals with everything you need taken care of along the way.

In just two days, you’ll journey from the first touch of clay to creating lifelike animals, while we provide all the materials, meals, and care you need along the way.

Day 1

Exploring clay

Begin with free-form clay play to explore textures and shapes. Then move into guided sculpting sessions where you and your child create your first animals, with the help of the artist, Saravanakumar.

Day 2

Sculpting and storytelling

Go deeper with sculpting animals like elephants, deer, and cows. Learn how to capture their features and movements, and enjoy playful storytelling as each clay figure comes to life.

 Everything you need is included

Along with sculpting materials, you’ll experience a lot of things. The camp takes place in the 16-acre organic sanctuary, Iyal Thottam, Sethumadai, where you’ll also enjoy

  • Home-cooked organic meals and healthy snacks
  • Separate shared lodging for men and women. Children can stay with one parent.
  • River walks and nature exploration
  • Campfire nights under the stars
  • Thappattam (folk music)
  • Outdoor play and team games

Thank you for the play stories retreat! The whole retreat was like a dream!!! The camp provided us with rich life experience! We started with awkward hi, hellos... but by the last night, we were so deep in conversation that we were reluctant to go to bed even 1.30 a.m!! We build our relationship over all the games organized by Vino sir and guru sir. Not just the adults, but the kids also formed a clan of their own! While kids ran to their families on day 1 for any help... but by the last day, they would randomly approach any member of the retreat to seek help😂 From strangers, we formed a village which actually looked after each other. Honestly, the river vist or trek or playing games would not be possible for me, if not for the support of other team members like ramya, hema, Ram anna, pavi mam, vahini mam, etc.,
I'm glad to have met Bala sir and hear him talk! Thought-provoking conversation and his encouragement to dig deeper about the information instead of stopping at face value, from guru sir and best of all: "Ena thanga nadainthudum? conversation from viji Mam... that truly helped me to feel home with my own emotions.trips to the river, Adventure Park, and trek deserve a special mention.
All in all, it's an awesome space to slow down, relax, and experience life richness and simplicity at the same time!

Thanks once again for creating these unforgettable experience Guru and Team !!
We attended wave summer camp and had great time learning through experience. Got new insights about how science is integrated into daily life. My son enjoyed trekking, camp fire and movie nights. Glad to connect with a community where I can be ME. Wishing you all good luck.

It is really little sad to accept that the bio-sketch camp days have come to an end( for 2025).
Honestly , I was not very comfortable in the beginning because of my routine regular lifestyle.
slowly I started to see the lagging life skills within myself and specially in my son. We try to gain those slowly but for sure.
What did I gain or learn these days ?......I really don't know but I am sure that I laughed a lot with my lovable little darlings and had the best of days which reminded me of my primary government panchayat school days in my very small village. Innocence to the core.
I am going back with all those beautiful memories....I will refresh those memories forever....At the end of everything the journey is all about trial and error, learning from those errors and especially not repeating the same mistakes once again.... Becoming the better version of ourselves.
My heartiest thanks and congratulations to the entire team of Aatral and special mention to brother Guru for his entire efforts throughout the camp. Drawing sir Saravana Kumar ....OMG....sir, you are fully qualified to try a stand up comedy .... you already have a second profession ready.... thanks to jijo and christina for their special contribution..... I don't know many names from the cooking team and few others.... Wishing you all health, wealth and happiness. My prayers and wishes for the same.
looking for a possible meet up soon in near future ....take care all ..bye 💓🙏
