Recorded Course · Organic Farming

Understand farming as a living system — from its very first root.

Organic farming is more than growing crops — it's the study of living systems. When you understand the "why," the "how" naturally follows. Built around Aatrral's 5M Regenerative Cultivation Process, backed by 7+ years of on-farm practice.

The Idea Behind This Course

The Aatrral Mantra

Before the soil science, the course starts with the mindset it's built on — a small set of principles that shape how Aatrral approaches farming, and really, how it approaches anything.

Slowdown

Do the best with what is available.

80-20 Rule

Focus where it genuinely matters.

Creation vs. Consumption

Mind the ratio between what you make and what you use.

Gratitude

A foundation, not an afterthought.

Servant Leadership

Lead by working alongside, not above.

Little by Little

Day by day, what is meant for you shall find its way.

Good to Know

What this course includes — and what it doesn't

This course includes

  • The complete conceptual foundation of organic and regenerative farming
  • Aatrral's own 5M Regenerative Cultivation Process, explained from the ground up
  • Practical thumb rules, reference ranges, and unit conversions you can use on your own farm or garden
  • Real case studies (coconut, broccoli, tomato) grounding the theory in practice

This course does not include

  • Site-specific soil testing or a personalized cultivation plan for your land
  • A substitute for hands-on farm implementation and observation

The Full Journey

14 Core Topics

1

Plant Succession & the Riparian Zone

How land naturally succeeds toward forest over 200 to 300 years with no human intervention, and the distinct ecology of the riparian (water's edge) zone.

2

How a Plant Actually Works

The plant's 24-hour rhythm — cell division and sugar utilization, peak photosynthesis, and sugar transport — plus root exudates, transpiration, photorespiration, and osmosis.

3

Soil Profile & Structure

The O and A horizons, soil structure and aggregates, and the jar test — a simple, real method for measuring your own soil's sand, silt, and clay content.

4

Nutrients & Minerals

Macro and micronutrients, deficiency versus toxicity, and why nutrient uptake depends on pH and redox potential (Eh), not just what's present in the soil.

5

Manure, Microbes & the C:N Ratio

Getting organic carbon above 3%, the many additive families (compost, EM, biochar, vermicompost, jeevamrutham, panchagavya), and why the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio matters so much.

6

The Soil Food Web

Predator-prey dynamics underground, rhizophagy, horizontal gene transfer, and quorum sensing — the hidden social life of soil organisms.

7

The 5M Regenerative Cultivation Process

Moisture, Mulch, Microbes, Manure, and Minerals — Aatrral's own framework, plus design considerations like zone boundaries, hedge rows, and companion planting.

8

Aerobic Hot Compost (Indore/Berkeley Method)

The full step-by-step process — temperature targets, turning schedule, ingredient ratios, what never to add, and the full 60-70 day maturity timeline.

9

Plant Health, Brix & Pest Resistance

The plant health pyramid, and how a plant's Brix (sugar) level connects directly to its natural resistance to insects.

10

Thumb Rules & Reference Ranges

Practical nominal/min/max numbers for soil organic matter, pH, moisture, dilution ratios, and application rates — plus the TNAU soil nutrient reference ranges.

11

Units, Volume & Weight

The farm math you actually need — weight-per-litre conversions, acre/cent conversions, and volume calculations for beds, pots, and rings.

12

Beneficial Microbes & Bio-Control

The real named organisms — Bacillus, Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, Azotobacter, VAM, and more — and exactly what each one does for your soil or crop.

13

C:N Ratios of Common Materials

A practical reference table — from chicken manure (10:1) to cardboard (350:1) — so you can balance any compost pile correctly.

14

Case Studies

Coconut, broccoli, and tomato — seeing the entire framework applied to real, specific crops.

What You'll Discover

A few of the ideas inside

  • Why a plant sends 50% of its sugar below ground — and why half of that is given away as root exudates
  • Why "the mixture will gradually form layers" in a simple jar test — sand in a minute, silt in two hours, clay in twelve
  • Why 55–65°C held for 72 hours is the exact temperature window that kills pathogens and weed seeds in a compost pile
  • Why nutrient uptake depends on soil pH and redox potential, not just which nutrients are actually present
  • Why a plant's Brix (sugar) level is directly connected to how resistant it is to insect pests
  • The real names behind "good bacteria" — Rhizobium fixing nitrogen in root nodules, VAM fungi extending a root's own reach for phosphorus
About the Course Creator

Aatrral Bala

Aatrral Bala

This course was created by Bala, a mechanical engineer whose search for real understanding — first in physics and mathematics — eventually led him into farming, soil, food, and health. The same approach carries through: not a list of things to memorize, but a framework built from first principles, tested and observed on his own land.

Backed by 7+ years of on-farm coconut consultation and soil restoration work, this course is the result of that journey, applied to organic and regenerative farming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Good to know

Do I need any farming background to start?
No. The course begins from the very basics of how a plant works and builds forward — if you're curious about your own soil or garden, you can start here.
Will this tell me exactly what to do on my own land?
Not directly — this course builds the conceptual foundation and the frameworks (like the 5M Process) to reason from. Site-specific advice for your own soil or crop isn't included.
How long do I have access?
Lifetime access. Once you enroll, the course is yours to revisit anytime.
What does the WhatsApp Support Group add?
Two weeks of added support alongside the recorded course, for questions as you work through the material.
Is this for beginners or experienced farmers?
Both. The course is built to be clear enough for a genuine beginner or kitchen gardener, while still going deep enough for researchers, agriculturists, and practicing farmers.
Is there a live version of this too?
Yes — Agri Root is a 3-hour live webinar covering similar ground with Aatrral Bala directly, including a session on food forest design that isn't part of this recorded course.
